A NEW MODERN SCIENCE EVENT/EXHIBITION IS GOING TO BE TAKING PLACE IN LEEDS IN 2013. THE EVENT IS GOING TO BE FOCUSSING ON MODERN EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCE, ALL NEW MODERN TECHNOLOGIES, COMPUTER AND PROGRAMMING EXPERIMENTATION WITH DATA AND PROCESSING. SEEING WHAT CREATIVE OUTCOMES CAN BE PRODUCED USING DATA INPUTTING. YOU NEED TO PRODUCE THE DESIGN WORK FOR THIS EVENT; BRANDING FOR THE EVENT, PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL BEHIND IT, WEB AND ON SCREEN ASSETS AND PUBLICATIONS [INCLUDING A MAGAZINES PROMOTING THE EVENT, CATALOGUES AND PROGRAMMES TO BE GIVEN OUT AT THE EVENT.

TRY TO BE EXPERIMENTAL WITH OUTCOMES, NOT STICKING TO THE OBVIOUS FOR THINGS SUCH AS PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL, TRY TO BUILD/CREATE/PUT ON A PERFORMANCE TO BUILD INTEREST FOR THE EVENT. LOOK INTO MODERN CONTEMPORARY GRAPHIC DESIGN THAT WOULD FIT THE OVERALL FEEL OF THE EVENT FOR THINGS SUCH AS PUBLISHING AND EDITORIALS AND THE OVERALL BRANDING. LOOK INTO CONTEMPORARY ARTS. MY BRIEF
MY BRIEF...
THE BRIEF I HAVE WROTE, TAKING ASPECTS FROM OTHER BRIEFS AND INCORPORATING THEM INTO A NEW BRIEF ALLOWING ME TO PRODUCE THE BODY OF WORK THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PRODUCE.
Needs re-defining but this is essentially the brief that i would like to work on,
branding and producing all the design work for a science exhibition would allow me to be completely experimental with my design work whilst still working with type and layout rather than image.
I would also allow me to work in a contemporary modern style with my design work using [edgy/experimental] layout with it still being completely relevant and fitting in with the overall aesthetics of the event.
The opportunity to try to build/create something for the promotional side of the project, putting on a performance/creating some form of interesting contemporary art to gather interest for the event rather that sticking to the obvious, posters, flyers etc...
Also i would to incorporate new ways of working within my designs, using data and processing to produce the design work allowing me to put a theory and a science behind my outcomes, collecting data and producing art around it. Which would also fit in perfectly for design work for a modern technology science exhibition.

We were asked to analyse each of these chosen briefs outlining 5 reasons why we chose each brief and what we would get out of each brief, breaking it down into; practical, personal, processes, contexts and products.
Pentagram
I chose the pentagram brief because even though i wasnt too keen on the concept behind it, one of my targets of this final brief was to try to move away from image and illustration and focus mainly on type and image and focus on developing my typography skills where i feel i have lost out by not choosing the Typography path-way.
The pentagram brief is all type and layout, you have to create a range of magazine spreads based on typographers, and even though the concept sounds a bit dull i could take aspects of the brief and apply it to mine - try to make a focus of my brief on type and layout, producing editorials, magazines etc...
Fedrigoni
I chose the fedrigoni brief purely for the experimental aspects of it, experimenting with what you could do with print and the limitations of print, also this brief would potentially give me opportunity to try some screen printing which is something i havnt really made the most of in previous briefs. However with what Fred said today about dont bother wasting time on screen printing because this is only a small brief and screen printing, even though the outcome is always crisp and nice, wastes allot of time setting things up and that. I would like to experiment with printing in the future however, trying some marbling etc, hopefully i can apply it to one of the next briefs.

I liked the look of this brief purely because of the experimental side to it, having the opportunity to create something, put on a performance, then record the date and produce a piece of design out of it. This is something i have been pushing to do recently; creating design work not just because it is pretty and looks nice but designs that have some kind of 'science' or theory behing it.
Putting on a fresh face
This brief interested me because of the re-branding of an already established company. This being another thing i was interested in looking into within my brief. Re-branding/branding a company to give them fresh modern look, using this contemporary modern design style that has been growing recently.
REASONS WHY;
BREAKING DOWN THE BRIEFS, TAKING MY FAVOURITE ASPECTS.
These are the brief i chose [minus fedrigoni, because of the time limitations for print experimentations] broken down taking what i feel are the 2 best parts of the brief. I have done this in order to outline the features that i would want out of a brief, so i can write my own brief which includes the links from other briefs [trying to incorporate each of these points] whilst still working in a style that i would like to and be completely experimental with my designs and outcomes.
Briefing - product/range/distribution..
In this session we were given the new brief for OUGD203, the concept of this brief is to choose 4 current briefs from a selection of sites that interest you, analyse them as to what you like and dislike about each brief and use parts from each one to create a 'super brief' allowing you to create/achieve anything you would like to work with within this final brief.
In this session along with the briefings and presentations we were given a series of questions to quickly fill in to help give us a clearer understanding of what we should be focussing on within this last brief and essentially writing out a rational for ourselves.
