stage 2

started the second stage of the animation by getting all the imagery ready on illustrator,
cutting out li ka shing - number 10 on the top 10 rich list, getting the type perfect and ready on separate layers and vectoring a simple illustration of money to build up as the sequence went on.
helvetica bold with a stroke on to make it even bolder to add more character, so it would work well with the fun quirky style of animation.

creating a clipping mask around the image of li ka shing to cut him out from the back ground.

creating this vector, very simple style of money like the sort which i have seen within similar styles of animation from my research, creating 4 different sizes so i would have the perfect size for my animation when imported into after effects.

I wanted to have the type appear to swing into the composition, so to do this i made them all 3D, moved the anchorpoint so it was resting on the top of the word and using the Y position added keyframes at different angles to give the impression it was swinging and set them all to easy ease to smoothen out the animation.

Then to have the money drop from the top of the composition, i created the first drop setting keyframes on the position and moving them down from the top, then using the graph editor changed the motion speed of the notes to give it a more realistic drop, starting off slow then picking up speed.
Then had the notes slightly bounce as they hit the ground, i then copied and pasted this layer moving the end point up slightly and setting them off shortly after one and other to allow the pile to build up.

The original plan for the next part was to have the money keep rising and the camera pan it as it rises (much like the ident) however mike gave me the idea of have the money appear to fly off the screen by moving it on its X axis which worked really well and gave me a great transition to the next scene as one of the notes flew right into the camera, transitioning to a green background. I then changed the speed and timing to keep it in time with the music to give it a really nice finish.

Next scene!!
