illustration

Halfway through the project i changed my concept to allow me to do a more illustrative approach to the brief, this is because i realist that minimalism, even though i found it interesting, wasnt really a style i enjoyed working in, so by changing my concept to minimalist animals and including comparisons between minimalist and non minimalist illustrations is allowed me to include some of my own illustrations within the book. Creating illustrations is something i really enjoy doing so it allowed me to get back interested in the brief by getting on with things i enjoyed instead of doing simple minimalist graphic design. These are the detailed illustrations i created;

i began by developing the illustrations on paper before vectorising, making sure i had a design i was happy with before spending hours and hours sitting their adding all the details, i then created the outlines with the graphics tablet and layered the colours in bit by bit to add shading. I would of really like to include some more of these within my project but i felt any more than 3 would of completely changed the theme of the book from its original minimalist style. Also the time it takes to create them, i was probably sat their infront of illustrator for hours and hours buiding up the shaping and the details so with the small amount of time we had to develop our outcomes their wasnt really enough time for me to create anymore. The style i worked in was something i felt worked really well and hopefully i will incorporate into other briefs in the future.

MINIMALIST ILLUSTRATION.

i then began practicing minimalist illustrations of animals to see which style would work best within my book.

One thing i struggled with was getting a minimalist penguin style so i began trying some sketches out to find an appropriate style.
