I then decided it would be best trying experimenting coming up with and using different grids on indesign to find a layout that would work well within the book and could be applied to all pages,
these are my experiments.
indesign crashed, lost a few days work. yey.
accidental win; indesign continued to mess about with my document and started highlighting all the headers. Although i did not intend for this to happen i though the overall look of it was quite nice, maybe a bit too edgy to use for this book but a style that i will definitely consider for future briefs.
