No news is good news. development after crits.

FEEDBACK....

We received anonymous feedback from some of our peers to help us improve our posters and to see what people really thought about them, the fact that the feedback was anonymous was helpful because it allowed people to say what they really felt about your work without being scared of upsetting the person. However i didn't really receive any negative comments, overall i felt my feedback was very positive. However this was quite frustrating because it left me without any developments to make to my poster.
The ways in which i was given to develop my posters further where relation to the positioning of the text, moving the text to the centre of the image instead of having it pushed to the right.
So i fixed that, and here they are now. FINAL POSTER DESIGNS.

No news is good news. initial ideas.

Here are some of the initial ideas that i came up with for the new brief, to create a series of posters that illustrate our headline using image, just type and type and image. The headline that i am using is; 'DAVID BECKHAM'S WEEKLY SALARY COULD PAY FOR 30 BRITISH TROOPS ANNUAL SALARY.'

Here are some initial quick concepts that i created on illustrator.

Illustrator -alphabet soup

We started this brief with an induction to adobe illustrator, 6 sessions teaching us the basic knowledge on how to use illustrator. In the first session we completed a series of tasks showing us how to use the pen tool.
Then for the next sessions we put our skills with the pen tool to practise by vectorising one of our letter forms.
This is the letter which i vectorised. We then filled the letter in a block colour and then a colour of our choice.

We then learn how to fill using swatches, how to create our own swatches and fill with them.
Here are some experiments using swatches.

I then started to create my 26 letter-forms, i experimented creating some variations with several letters before settling on the letter G. Here are my experiments.

Here are my final 26 letter forms.
Some extra letter-form experiments that didn't get included within the final 26.

Personality Alphabet. further development after crit..

After finishing the bubble typeface which i create for Claudia we then had a group critique, where we presented our finished typefaces to a group of people for them to give us feedback back on them.
My group critique was quite successfully i felt, I didn't really receive any negative comments, some of the feedback that i received was the bubbles were too cluttered and sometimes hard to read. I also was given a few ideas to experiment with; one to try to build up the typeface starting with one bubble adding one to each letter to illustrate become more bubbly, also to try looking at lower-case because even though it may not represent Claudia's character as well as using upper-case would, the lower-case letter form are more smooth, round and bubble like and would maybe work better finally i was told to look at how numbers would work with this typeface.

From these experiments I created the typeface on illustrator, using a similar style to my original typeface but trying to use as little bubbles as possible.

I then looked at making the letter-forms looking even more like bubbles by adding little reflections onto them and experimenting with that.

Then after experimenting with different fills and colours i found that the grey fill with black stroke was the most visually appealing.

However after responding to the feedback given in the critique, i still feel that my original typeface was more successful, certain letters such as C and E i feel do not work whilst working in this style; however i still like this outcome i think it works really well as a typeface.
