Brief 2 - photography magazine

Brief

A photographer is planning on creating a new quarterly, contemporary photography magazine. Showcasing photography from around the world, interviews with professionals with artist profiles as well as pressing matters within modern day photography. The magazine will be very high class, with strong print finishes and layout considerations. The photographer is looking a graphic designer to work hand in hand with to help with the layout and design considerations within the magazine, whilst also helping to source content, with just giving the magazine a strong visual aesthetic to help it stand out within the modern arts magazine sector.

Background/considerations

The magazine would have to fit the visual aesthetic of current quarterly arts magazine whilst still having a strong enough style to help it stand out amongst the competition. The magazine will not have a huge budget initially their fore all processes must be well considered. Needs to be a high end magazine, with the content being the full front for all the design considerations, allowing the content dictate the layout.

Mandatory requirements

Work with the photographer to come up with a visual style for the magazine that you both agree would help the magazine reach its full potential. Due to the magazine initially being ran by just 2 people you will have to also heavily help dictating and sourcing what content should be included within the magazine.

Deliverables

A strong visual aesthetic and layout for a magazine that can be applied to future copies as well as promotional material.
