speaking from experience - research

ways to save money at university.

I asked everyone in my class for a few tips on how they save money at university, hopefully to help influence some ideas for my book.

These are the tips i received;

  • making my own sandwiches, bringing in my own coffee in a flask. pre drinking and not using my card whilst im out
  • surviving on cereal. its not bad but after 2 days it gets a bit samey really...
  • bringing my own lunch and budgeting generally week by week
  • buy a months worth of food all in one go
  • at loughborough last year i urinated in my flatmates drink, to teach him a lesson for eating my food. it saved me money from not having to replace stolen food.
  • sneaking milk and tin foil to put in my coffee flask and wrap up my sandwiches (those are 2 really good ways to save on food and caffeine btw)
  • I just use cling film, tin foil, and my flatmates whos finished for summers plates because I smashed mine
  • needed a mixer so took some 7up and filled it back up with water!!!!!
  • stealing the huge loo rolls from girls loos instead of buying my own......pretty much all year...!
  • and nicking food....milk, butter, mayo especially
  • scamming self check-out's
all very nice effective ideas however i needed more abstract/strange concepts.
